A Tribute to Art Pepper
"A Tribute to Art Pepper" is a pioneering project by Hauser, which premièred on 19 September 2004 at Olten Jazztage and was a huge success. Art Pepper, the American alto saxophonist, is one of Hauser's great jazz idols of the 60s. Pepper's unique ability to tell enchanting stories through often very simple melodies still impresses Hauser today, which is why he decided to announce this concert almost ten years after its première. Hauser transcribed and arranged selected compositions by the famous alto saxophonist. Not only did he succeed in arranging the dynamic, thrilling hard bop tunes with authenticity and verve. He and his band were also able to translate the autobiographical and extremely delicate ballads of the grand master into magical sounds. "A Tribute to Art Pepper" is an expression of Hauser's intellectual works, as well as his musical brilliance.
